The boys

23rd November 2008.

Ever since the birth of Nicodemus, we had been very careful in making Nat feel as comfortable as he can with the addition of a new member to our family. We went to such an extent as to buy a bicycle and bringing it to the hospital, and then telling him when Daddy brought him there to visit Mummy and Nic, that Nic gave him the bicycle. It worked, we think.

As time went by, we try to give Nat as much time as we possibly can so that he does not feel left out. Nat says goodnight to his brother every night and adds the "I love you" as well. I hope this lasts. Somehow, I have a sneaking suspicion that once Nic is able to walk and snatch toys away from Nat, this may all change. But at least for now, I am happy with the progress.

The Lim Family

21st November 2008.

We finally were able to take a photo of the 4 of us together. Looking back now, its just amazing. Firstly, one became two, then two became three, and now three became four. So here are the four!

With Nic, we do have our ups and downs, as with Nat. It can be so stressful especially for Mummy. But we take it one day at a time.

Happy First Month Nicodemus

25 November 2008.

Today is the first month since Nicodemus was born. But looking at the chinese calendar, it was yesterday. We did not have a big celebration. But we had bought some stuff to give to people and had a small gathering at our place for very close friends for a dinner and cake cutting for Nicodemus and for Big Ben, who celebrated his birthday yesterday as well.

Some of the cakes we gave out.

Announcing the birth of Nicodemus Paul Lim

Shirley, Nathaniel and I would like to formally announce that by God's grace, Nicodemus Paul Lim was born on Saturday 25th October 2008. He was 3.14 kg and 50 cm long.

It all started about 3am or so with some contractions. We were out of the house by 5am. We reached Mt. Alvernia by 5.20am. Shirley was in the delivery suite by 5.45am. It was all natural without epidural. And it was all over by 7.19am. It was painful but thankfully quick!! Hurray to Shirley!!!

We were careful to manage Nathaniel as well. We had bought a small bicycle and even brought it to the hospital. I brought him there Saturday afternoon and told him that he is now a big brother and that baby has now come out of Mummy's stomach. The bicycle was a present from Nicodemus to him. He was pleased with it I must say. Well, the challenges begin to manage the 2 boys!!!

Thanks to all our friends and family for their prayers, support and congratulatory messages.

Happy Birthday Keegan!!

4th October 2008.

We were invited to Keegan's birthday party today. We had a buffet dinner from Neo Garden and then the usual cake cutting ceremony. My my, I must say that we have attended a few birthday celebrations recently. Many year end babies!! It was a fun night. Catching up with friends and making new ones!! I finally met Fahma (is the spelling correct?). Her name kept coming up occasionally when I speak to Eunice sometimes about work, etc. So finally good to match the face to the name.

Nat was finally introduced to the Wii. Gosh, the technology nowadays. You just need to flick your wrist and you are bowling or playing golf at home. It kind of takes the interest out of the game. I will have to introduce Nat slowly to the actual game. More beneficial for him right??

Happy 70th Birthday Wai Por!!

28 September, 2008.

We had a small celebration for Wai Por today. It was her 70th Birthday. And we celebrated it at Kim Choo Peranakan Restaurant at East Coast Road. It was a simple and delicious dinner with cake cutting at the end. I must say that I was quite impressed with the service, especially with the waitress. She got everything we needed. She even became our babysitter (when we went back to eat there just this past Tuesday night with a friend visiting from the UK)!!!

Wai Por has been a great help to her daughters and their families. Taking care of kids and cooking are her forte, and we all appreciate that. Thus taking time off to celebrate with a dinner was a must!!!!

Nat singing happy birthday in mandarin!

Today was the first time we heard Nat sing Happy Birthday in Mandarin and at the top of his voice. I was visibly amused and so was Luke and Matthias, his cousins. It was great!!

Actual 3rd Birthday

19th September 2008 marked the actual birthday of our Nathaniel Isaac Lim Oon Yang!

I had taken leave that day. I sent Nat to school and passed all the goodie bags to his teacher to distribute. I then promised Nat that I will be back to pick him up. At about 12.30pm, I picked him up, showered him and took him for a snack and to an indoor playground at Downtown East. I had to encourage him to explore the place a little more but he was not that adventurous. I did not want to push him too hard as he might not like it, so I let him explore on his own. I told myself that I will have to return another day with him.

After this, we went to Gelare for waffles. He really enjoyed it!!! Then it was off to pick Mummy from work and then for a dinner at Marche, VivoCity. It was a fun but tiring day for Nat, but am very sure he enjoyed it!!

Happy Birthday Nat!

14th September 2008.

We celebrated Nat's birthday today, a week earlier. It was a smallish affair with family and some very good friends. I had asked Nat some time back what cake would he like for his birthday. I expected Barney or Hi 5. But strangely he said a "car cake." And specifically a "red car cake!" Shirley and I were surprised. Anyway, we checked a few more times with him and he was very consistent....so a red car cake we gave him. The only red car cake I could think of was Lightning McQueen from the animated car movie.

As Shirley and I were shopping for his goodie bags for his nursery mates, we found items from that movie. So it slowly became a car themed event. We even screened the Car movie in the karaoke room that we booked as well.

Nat really enjoyed his party, judging from the smile on his face. And for most of us who knows him well, he hardly smiles for the camera.

Dragon-boats!

13 September 2008.

It was a Saturday and Mommy wanted to go down to Bedok Reservoir to check out the dragon-boat race as her company Morgan Stanley was taking part. Daddy and Mommy thought it would be something Nat may like to see (and it was something different to do on the weekend). So we went down but had missed that particular race. But it was fun and interesting to see the other teams racing.

Surprised Eunice

The gang (Sam, Tina, Shirley, Ben) wanted to surprise Eunice for her birthday. The only problem was that she was going to be in Perth during her birthday. I had sent out an email to ask if we wanted to surprise Eunice. I had earlier spoke to Eunice about the Perth trip and then sent out the email. I had also included her other half. We had played with the idea of surprising her at the house or even holding placards saying Happy Birthday when they come back to Singapore on the 6th Sept. But guess what???? Shirley was so keen to surprise her at the airport before she flew to Perth. So the emails went back and forth till we decided to pretend that we were going to the Perth with her, but on another flight (Eunice was going on Qantas whereas we were "going" on SQ). We had props like the carry on luggages, passports and even the boarding passes. I had also bought 2 pieces of carrot cake from coffee bean the night before. But of course we all know what happened. I left the cake in the fridge at home. So we made arrangements with the cafe at the T1 terminal to bring out the cake when we came back with Eunice. Big Ben had told us to keep Kevin, Ah Kong and Ah Ma in the dark, which was good too. John who was around too at the airport was surprised too, but decided to play along later. It was fun. And Eunice! We will all go to Perth one day TOGETHER!

6th September 2008.
Hmmmm...... but the surprises did not end here. Shirley, Nat and I were activated by Sam to drop by Eunice's house on the day the Teohs flew back from Perth. And we all appeared together with the Teoh's bible study group. Unfortunately, John and Chris did not realise that Eunice was in the kitchen and they barged in. And it was raining outside too, which made it a little bit more inconvenient. But we managed. And Eunice was so "surprised!"

Its official ......... Mr & Mrs Chua

22 August 2008.

Our good friends, Sam and Tina finally said their vows to be united as one!

Shirley and I were honoured to be present to witness the ceremony at the ROM. The whole gang then proceeded after that for a lunch. But here are some photos of the people present.

Congratulations guys!!

17 August 2008.

Mummy met her friend, Auntie Suzanne at Tampines Mall to catch up. Daddy and Nat walked around the mall before heading back home for Nat to take his late afternoon nap. But we managed to catch Nat kissing Man Ning while she was asleep. So cute and innocent. (of course we told him to kiss her!) But I think the most amazing thing is at night, Nat mentioned that he remembers Man Ning from a previous outing he had with Mummy, Auntie Suzanne and Man Ning. That was quite some time ago and we thought that he would be too small to not remember it. Amazing.

Happy Birthday!!

16th August 2008.

We attended a birthday dinner today. It was to celebrate Nat's cousins' birthday. So Happy Birthday Mikayla and Luke!! Think it was nice for the kids. You should see Mikayla... so cute sitting on the high chair! And she is now one!! How time flies!

Mikayla is one!

Golf?

10 August 2008.

Just wanted to show the boy with his plastic golf club on his bed (which he does not even sleep on!) Daddy and Mummy wanted to sell the cot initially, but have decided against it as we think we might use it for the next child!!

Last day in Sentosa

The last day at Sentosa on the 2nd August 2008 was spent at Underwater World after a breakfast at Delifrance. It was difficult getting good photos in there. The fish were moving around quite quickly and it was rather dim, but here were some that I could take that I felt were decent.

We then made our way to the Rasa Sentosa beach for Nat to use his sand equipment which he was eager to try out. We managed to catch a sand castle building competition there too. And you should see Nat with beads of sweat rolling down his face!!

SENTOSA adventures

I was trying to upload the monkey video for the past few times I logged in, but I guess it was too big and just could not happen. So I have given up. I now continue with the SENTOSA chronicles.

After the primate show, we went to the Dolphin Lagoon to catch the "pink dolphins" in action. Nat enjoyed the show seeing his excitement. The weather was really hot though.

The dolphins.

Nat and Mummy watching the dolphins.

After the show, we headed back to the hotel and decided to go for quick dip in the pool. It had a slide which Nat went on twice. But I think he hates the water hitting his face. I then taught him to blow bubbles in the water, which is usually the first step in teaching someone how to swim.

Blowing bubbles.

After a shower and a nap, we then went to have dinner at Sakae Izakaya at Siloso Beach. We then took the Sentosa Express (a monorail) out to Vivocity and back. But we dropped by the Merlion for some photos. Then it was back to the hotel for a much needed rest.
